The Structure of Our Programmes
All programmes (excluding poupou) at Te Wānanga-o-Raukawa include a specialisation, an iwi and hapū component, te reo Māori and rorohiko studies. The specialisations displayed below include the following compulsory attachments.
Iwi and Hapū Studies
Iwi and Hapū studies are a distinctive feature of programmes offered at Te Wānanga-o-Raukawa. Your programme will focus on your own hapū and iwi. These studies explore your marae, history, waiata, hapū, artists and taonga, enhancing both you and your people.
Te Reo Māori
The Māori language is a high priority for Te Wānanga-o-Raukawa. Te Reo Māori contains particular perspectives and views and is the doorway by which you may enter the house of Māori knowledge. All students are required to study the Māori language; the goal is for students to become fully bilingual.
Students will be required to attend at least three five-day total immersion noho (live in) as well as weekly language classes (or undertake distance learning) each year.
Rorohiko Studies
Computers are essential in the modern classroom. Practical training and skills to use the computer, printer and software are offered so you can make the most of these modern tools. If you have prior learning in computer studies you may present your qualifications to Te Pūtahi Whakawhiti Pārongo in order to apply for a credit.
