The aim of the Poutuarongo Puna Maumahara (PPM) is to produce graduates who are able to design, implement and manage information systems to suit whakapapa based rōpū as well as other Māori groups and organisations. It develops bilingual and bicultural manages of Māori information resources in Māori and non-Māori organisations.
Future pathways for PPM graduates include:
- Developing libraries for whānau, hapū and iwi
- Librarian positions
- Database development in particular for whānau, iwi and hapū
- Research mahi in both the public and private sector as well as with Māori organisations
- Further study.
This one year Heke (Diploma) is NZQA approved at level 5. The three year Poutuarongo (Bachelors Degree) is NZQA approved at level 7.
