The revival and maintenance of te reo and tikanga Māori for the survival of Māori is a key pursuit for Te Wānanga o Raukawa and is the focus of this programme in particular.

This three year degree aims to produce graduates who have a high proficiency in te reo and tikanga.  The programme teaches situational language with a diffferent focus each term.  Kaupapa covered include language of the home, marae, media and paepae.  Iwi and Hapū studies feature strongly.  Students will need to be available to attend classes full-time 9am - 3pm Monday - Thursday.

Graduates will be sought after for roles where these skills are valued including:

• Journalism
• TV and radio presenters
• Tutors and kaiāwhina
• Māori language resource developers / writers
• Senior Māori advisors
• Research

They will be well positioned to undertake the Tāhuhu Reo Māori or for further study towards careers in a range of fields including teaching and broadcasting.

This one year Heke (Diploma) is NZQA approved at level 5.  The three year Poutuarongo (Degree) is NZQA approved at level 7.

Ngā Akoranga

He tohu paerua tēnei e pā ana ki te reo Māori, arā tōna ingoa ko te Tāhuhu Reo Māori, TReo.  E rua tau te roa.  He tohu whakatupu i te whakaaro mō te reo Māori o ngā tūpuna.  Ka rangahaua ngā kōrero o neherā kia kitea ai te āhua o te reo i a rātou, ā, i tō rātou nā wā.  Mā ēnei mahi e whakawhānui te kōrerotanga me te tuhinga o te ākonga.

He kaupapa rangahau tōmua tēnei mā te tauira e anga nui mai ana ki ōna.  Ā, me whai tohu paetahi, me ōrite rānei ngā pūkenga, ka mutu, me wairua rangahau, me mōhio ki te tuhi i te reo Māori, ā, me mātua mōhio ki te reo Māori.

• Tutoring
• Translation work.

  This one year Poutāhū (Post-graduate Diploma) is NZQA approved at level 8. The two year Tāhuhu (Masters Degree) is NZQA approved at level 9.
