The Poutuarongo Toiora Whānau (PTW) programme is a Social Workers Registration Board accredited qualification. The PTW introduces students to the skills and knowledge required to work effectively with whānau, hapū and iwi to improve the social wellbeing of Māori people. Students will become familiar with mātauranga Māori, promotion of whakawhanaungatanga, iwi and hapū planning, development and maintenance, hui planning and organisation, research skills, social policies and practice, legislation, policy development and practices for Māori.

This one year Heke (Diploma) is NZQA approved at level 5. The three year Poutuarongo (Degree) is NZQA approval and level 7.
