The Poutuarongo Tupunga Hapū (PTH) examines the place of hapū within Māori society. You will look into the past and present circumstances of hapū and plan for its future. The degree provides you with the skills and knowledge to enhance the future prospects of your hapū. This builds upon the appreciation of hapū characteristics developed in the first year.
Future pathways for PTH graduates include:
- Working with iwi and hapū authorities to implement employment and education programmes
- Preparation of Waitangi Tribunal claims
- Management positions within whānau, hapū and iwi authorities.
This one year Heke (Diploma) is NZQA approved at level 5. The three year Poutuarongo (Bachelors Degree) is NZQA approved at level 7.
