Ngā Purapura is the country's only purpose built facility of it's kind.
It's home to the biggest indoor seating arena on the Kapiti Coast, two international size basketball and netball courts, a state of the art fitness centre, a cafe and two multi media functional classrooms.
Ngā Purapura is open to students 7 days a week. We have a range of options available depending on your time with us.
Join us when you're on campus and be apart of our Wananga of fitness.

He iti nā Mōtai is another arm of Te Wānanga-o-Raukawa, established to provide a nurturing, stimulating environment where we could manaaki the tamariki of students and staff while they are in noho and/or while working at Te Wānanga-o-Raukawa.
Our staff are not all fluent, but work very hard to maintain an immersion environment, and participate in weekly reo classes and hui rūmaki to extend their capacity in te reo. For some parents and their tamariki, immersion in te reo might be a challenge, but we ask that you refrain from speaking English in the kohanga.
Hours of Operation
The kohanga is open from 8:30am - 4.30pm. Monday to Friday.
Licenced by the Ministry of Education
Our centre is licenced for 40 tamariki in total:
15 under 2's (9mths - 24mths)
25 over 2's (2yrs - 4yrs)
Expectations of Matua
Morning tea and afternoon tea are provided by the centre. Our tamariki are often involved in preparation of kai for meal times. For example tuna, paraoa, panakeke etc.
Parents are required to provide their tamaiti/tamariki with healthy kai options for lunch - hanawiti, fruit, wai (No! chippies, muesli's with chocolate, strings or juice etc).
Waa Kai:
Kai o te ata 10.00-10.30am -- Lunch 12.00-12.30pm -- Kai o te Ahiahi 2.00-2.30pm
Please don't forget to pack a change of clothing for your tamaiti, kope (if required) and miraka moo ngā pepi.
There is an expectation that parents with tamariki attending full-time at the kohanga, commit to attending whānau hui, held once a term, and take the opportunity to support your child's life time learning.
Parents are also required to set up an AP arrangement with our administrator, Lisa Shelford to ensure fees are paid on a regular basis.
Students and Staff of Te Wānanga-o-Raukawa
We will always try and accommodate tamaiti/tamariki of our students and staff of Te Wānanga-o-Raukawa where possible. Please feel free to make enquiries at any time to our Administrator, Lisa Shelford. Students will need to provide He Iti nā Mōtai with advance notice of study dates when childcare will be required. Note, if your tamaiti is already attending another kohanga/centre, you will need to notify them and/or WINZ that they will be attending our centre as per your study schedule (noho dates).
