Poupou Pakari Tinana aims to provide you with an introduction to successful strategies for enhancing health, as well as providing opportunities for you to attain the highest possible levels of wellbeing during the course.

There are four introductory papers, each with specific objectives, delivered within a framework that:

  • Utlises aspects of te reo Māori
  • Employs the Whare Tapa Whā model of health and wellbeing
  • Provides opportunities for further expression of the guiding kaupapa of Te Wānanga o Raukawa
  • Recognises the importance of tikanga (including the concepts of tapu and noa)
  • Encourages the development of a kawa for the maintenance of healthy lifestyles

Participation is pivotal to success therefore attendance and particpation in all Kura Wānanga and pakari tinana sessions are compulsory. The attendance requirement for Poupou Pakari Tinana is:

  • Four one-day Kura Wānanga deliveries to take place during the 16 week teaching period.
  • Weekly pakari tinana sessions with your kaiako.
