Group Fitness Classes

Group sessions are a great way to get fit with others, stay motivated and have fun. There are a range of classes running Monday to Friday at Ngā Purapura. Check out the schedule and class descriptions below or get in touch with us by phone (06) 364 9018, email or send us a Facebook message.

UAKAHA - Uakaha is our strength and conditioning class that emphasises constantly varied, high-intensity functional movement. Build strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, cardiovascular endurance, stamina, balance and accuracy. Maximizing your performance and fitness for any physical challenge or activity! No experience required.


MARANGA MAI - A 45 minute circuit that caters to all fitness levels! A great way to start the day within a group environment to help push and motivate each other along the way. Maranga Mai varies in workouts, changing the style of training every session to keep your body guessing! The class includes interval, resistance, cardio and burst of high intensity training.

What better way to start your day?! Having achieved something first thing in the morning is enough to set your mood for the rest of the day! MARANGA!


HIKIPOTO - Hikipoto is a 30 minute class focusing on high intensity interval training (HIIT). This style of training involves short bursts of intense exercise alternated with low intensity recovery periods. Interestingly, it is perhaps the most efficient way to exercise. Despite how short the workout is, it can produce health benefits similar to twice as much moderate intensity exercise. The actual activity being performed varies but can include sprinting, biking, jump rope, lifting weights or other body weight exercises. Hikipoto is a friendly and safe environment to push your aerobic and anaerobic capacity to new levels and have it over and done within 30 minutes! Who doesn't love a quick session that is over before you know it?!


MARUĀPŌ - Maruāpō is a lot similar to Hikipoto, but it’s taken to another level. 40-45 minute workouts that involve various types of training methods. It will work your muscular and aerobic endurance, making it the perfect class to get you back on track for sports or overall fitness. This is for those who are confident gym goers but need that extra push! The class environment is what keeps you going!
