In this paper you will examine the whakapapa and role of specific taonga in re-asserting the significance of iwi history and knowledge, describe and demonstrate a methodology to research the role of taonga that reinforce iwi history and iwi identity, and produce a plan for the production of an art work that gives expression to a significant historical event of a selected iwi.
