In this paper you will explore the historical and social context of the Te Rangakura experience in Aotearoa as a model for Māori self-determination.  You will discuss the impact of a National Māori education initiative on the survival, maintenance and growth of Te Reo Māori and tikanga Māori, and evaluate how teaching experiences influence a personal teaching philosophy.
