I have other commitments, can I manage this course?

Many of our students have completed these courses while working full-time or studying. For beginners, we recommend you dedicate approximately 12 hours a week to listening activities, exercises and online interaction with others.

Are there set hours I have to be online for lessons?

There are no set hours in the course, you can work out your own schedule and choose the times you want to log on.

Can my children sign up to the course?

The minimum age to enrol with us is 17 years. If they are younger then 17 don't worry, your children can still join in with you while you learn from home!

I have no laptop or computer, can I still complete the course?

All you need is an internet capable device - this can be a tablet or smartphone. However, it is easier to navigate the course using a computer. If you find you need a computer, we suggest borrowing one or visiting your local library to complete and upload your assignments.

Does this course require any travel?

Student allowances and loans

Poupou Huia Te Reo is not approved for student allowance or loans from StudyLink. It cannot be added to other studies to gain a student allowance or student loan from StudyLink.

I have already completed these courses, but I want to do them again. Can I re-enrol?

Unfortunately, no! We encourage you to check out our other courses if you are interested in taking your reo journey further. All programmes at Level 5 and above include te reo papers that are delivered through a mix of online and face to face learning. These are not free, however, they will contribute to the completion of a diploma or degree programme at Te Wānanga o Raukawa. We also have a Heke Reo reo one year diploma where you can have a full immersion experience, read more here.
