On 22 April 1981 the Raukawa Marae Trustees met and resolved to invite a number of people to form a council to establish Te Wānanga o Raukawa for the advancement, dissemination and maintenance of Māori knowledge through the medium of teaching and research. The interim council were to conduct affairs for the Wānanga and prepare a plan for its long-term development and approval by the Trustees.

This is a tribute to the achievements of the Te Wānanga o Raukawa graduates of 2020 who navigated the arrival of a global pandemic to Aotearoa during their academic year. As a physical Te Rā Whakapūmau event did not occur at the conclusion of 2020, a virtual production was created in 2021 to acknowledge graduates alongside the 40-year anniversary of Te Wānanga o Raukawa.

Te Wānanga o Raukawa are pleased to share with you, the release of your graduation production. You are welcome to share with your whānau and those who have supported you on your journey.

Unfortunately not all the images taken during the distribution and collection of taonga were able to be used, we apologise in advance.

We recognise that some of our Tauira whakapapa back to many iwi throughout Aotearoa and we acknowledge this. For the purpose of Te Rā Whakapūmau our tikanga has always been to include three iwi only. These should be iwi who have supported your studies and your mātauranga Māori journey.
